Most legacy migrations don’t fail because of bad technology choices. They fail because a step got skipped under deadline pressure, usually validation or rollback planning, the two steps that feel most “optional” right up until they aren’t. This is the checklist Nemani Tech Solutions runs on every migration, in order, without exception.

Signs You Need to Migrate, Before It Becomes an Emergency

Waiting for one of these to become a crisis (a vendor shutdown notice, an audit finding) turns a planned project into an emergency one. Emergency migrations are where corners get cut.

The Checklist

1. Assessment & Mapping

2. Target Architecture & Rollback Plan

3. Staged Migration in a Non-Production Environment

4. Validation

5. Cutover

6. Post-Migration

The step most teams skip:the dry run against real (not synthetic) data. It’s the single highest-leverage step in this list, and also the one that gets cut first when a timeline is under pressure, which is exactly backwards.

Questions to Ask a Migration Partner Before You Hire Them

  1. Will you run a dry run against real data before the live migration, and can I see the results?
  2. What’s the specific rollback trigger, and who has the authority to call it?
  3. How do you validate beyond row counts: what business logic gets checked?
  4. What happens to the old system immediately after cutover?
  5. Will they commit in writing to a full audit trail of exactly what changes, when, and why, before the migration starts?

If a prospective partner can’t answer these specifically, not in principle, but for your actual system, that’s the clearest signal to keep looking.

How We Run Migrations at Nemani Tech Solutions

Every migration Nemani Tech Solutions runs follows this exact checklist, with full audit trails and a rollback plan agreed before we touch production. We’d rather tell you a migration needs an extra week for a proper dry run than discover a data integrity problem after cutover. Getting that tradeoff right matters more to us than hitting an optimistic deadline.
